Uzbek parliamentary delegation expected to pay visit to Tajikistan next month

Date:

Uzbek parliamentary delegation is expected to pay visit to Tajikistan next month.  It will be the first ever visit of Uzbek parliamentary delegation to Tajikistan.

“Uzbek parliamentary delegation, led by the head of the Senate (Uzbekistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Committee on Defense and Security, Farrukh Dadakhoujayev, who is also the head of the Uzbekistan/Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, will arrive in Dushanbe in mid-November,” member of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, Zufar Ismoilzoda, who is also heads the Tajikistan/Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Initiated by the leaders of the two countries, it will be the first ever visit of Uzbek parliamentary delegation to Tajikistan, Ismoilzoda noted.

Tajik and Uzbek MPs reportedly intend to discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation in the field of legislation and establishment of direct contacts between elected representatives of the two countries.

Tajik parliamentarians will pay the return visit at the end of this year, Ismoilzoda added.

The Tajikistan/Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group was set up in the early 2000s for the purpose of fostering relations between the two countries and their elected representatives.

Uzbekistan reportedly established the Uzbekistan/Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group at the beginning of this year.
