Over the first ten months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to some 3.5 billion U.S. dollars, which was 108.2 percent of the January-October 2017 level or 263 million U.S. dollars more, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
The trade balance over the report period has been negative and amounted to some 1.7 billion U.S. dollars.
Exports of goods over the first ten months of this year have reportedly amounted to little more than 903 million U.S. dollars, which was 10 percent or 98 million USD fewer than in the same period last year.
Shares of primary aluminum, textiles and cotton fiber in Tajikistan’s exports over the report period were 22%, 20% and 15% respectively.
Over the same ten-month period, imports of goods into the country have reportedly amounted to 2.588 billion U.S. dollars, which was 16.8 percent or 362 million U.S. dollars more than in January-October last year.
Over the first ten months of this year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 102 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.
In January-October this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan were Russia (the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Russia valued at some 845 million US dollars over the report period, an increase of 10.3 percent compared to the same period last year), Kazakhstan (690 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 2.5 percent compared to the same period last year), China (531 million U.S. dollars), Turkey (328 million U.S. dollars) and Uzbekistan (239 million U.S. dollars).
Over the repot period, Kazakhstan was the main partner for Tajikistan’s exports. Kazakhstan reportedly accounted for 28 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports.
Meanwhile, Russia was the main partner for Tajikistan’s imports over the first ten months of this year – more than 30 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports.
