Afghan drug peddler detained while attempting to smuggle 542 grams of heroin in his stomach

Afghan drug peddler has reportedly been detained at the Panji Poyon (Lower Panj) border crossing point in the Khatlon province while attempting to smuggle 542 grams of heroin in his stomach.

The press center of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan says Afghan national Hakim Hakimullah has been detained at the Panji Poyon BCP on suspicion of drug trafficking.  

X-rays reportedly showed that the peddler had ingested 38 wraps of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 542 grams. 

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
