The Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MoHSP) of Tajikistan says that every year, more than 30 Afghan nationals undergo medical examination and treatment at hospitals in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

Dozens of avalanches have blocked roads connecting Afghan Badakhshan Province and the central part of Afghanistan and Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Sayed Masum Badakhsh has asked the Minister of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda to accept Afghan nationals for medical treatment at the GBAO hospitals, according to the MoHSP press center.

In the course of the talks with Afghan diplomat, Olimzoda reportedly noted that every year, more than 30 Afghan nationals undergo medical examination and treatment at hospitals in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region and in case of necessity it is possible to increase their number.

Tajik minister also expressed confidence that participation of a delegation of Afghan physicians in the Congress of Cardiotherapists of Central Asia and CIS that will take place in the Tajik capital from April 25-26 will promote further expansion of cooperation between medical workers of the two countries, the MoHSP press center said.
