Heating season still going on in some areas of Tajik capital

Asia-Plus

Heating season is still going on in some areas of Dushanbe because of the need of generation of electricity by the combined heat and power (CHP) plant, according to the Dushanbe heating system network.

An official source at the Dushanbe heating system network says the western and eastern boiler-houses were switched off on April 1 and the supply of heat to western and eastern parts of the city was stopped.

Meanwhile, heat is still being supplied to the central part of Dushanbe.  “The heating season is still going on in this part of the city because of the need of generation of electricity by the CHP plant,” the source said.

He further added that the decision on stopping the heating season is made by the authorities, while the Dushanbe heating system network is just an executor.

The heating season usually starts in Dushanbe in mid-November and last until mid-March of the next year.

Since 2016, residential customers have paid for heat at the rate of 1.03 somoni per one square meter of floor space per month, while the heating rate for other customers, including federally funded institutions, rose 15 percent last year.

In Tajikistan, only Dushanbe is provided with the centralized heating supply, and only the part of the city still has access to the heating system network.
