Kulob hosts international investment forum

An international investment forum that took place in the Tajik southern city of Kulob last week has resulted in signing of a number of cooperation documents.  

The forum that took place on June 14 reportedly brought together local and foreign entrepreneurs, representatives of government bodies, Tajik Diasporas, researchers and specialists as well representatives of local and foreign media outlets.

According to the State Committee on Investment and Sate-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), the meeting focused on the issues related to seeking ways to improve state police in the fields of investment and entrepreneurship, acceleration of industrialization of the country, development of tourism and opportunities of development of exports and processing of farm produce.   

The event ended with signing of a number of cooperation documents, an official source at GosKomInvest told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“Thus, the Government of Tajikistan and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) signed a framework agreement ,” said the source.  “Besides, the Government of Tajikistan signed an investment agreement with China’s Kashi Xinyi Dadi Mining (phonetically spelled) and a memorandum of understanding on implementation of a joint investment project with Tibet-Everest Resource Company.”  

The Kulob local government and Orien Rustam Limited Liability Company signed an agreement on construction of food producing enterprise and the local authorities of Tajikistan’s Khatlon Province and Afghanistan’s Balkh Province signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, the source added.  

An exhibition of outputs of domestic producers and samples of folk art was held on the sidelines of the forum.
