Tajikistan’s mineral resources deposits will now be given to foreign investors for development only on terms of complete mineral processing.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon remarked this during a meeting with representatives of the country’s industrial sector that took place in Dushanbe yesterday.
Tajik leader, in particular, noted that the government pays a special attention to development of mining industry and considers mineral resources the second most important source of national wealth of Tajikistan (after hydropower – Asia-Plus).
Rahmon noted that Tajikistan is rich in mineral and non-mineral resources, including hundreds of deposits of non-ferrous and ferrous metals, precious and decorative stones and so forth.
Enterprises on extracting ferrous metals and precious stones, colas and other minerals have been launched in the years of independence due to attraction of domestic and foreign investments, he said.
He further noted that the country’s mineral resources deposits will now be given to foreign investors for development only on terms of complete mineral processing.
In 2000-2019, Tajikistan produced a total of 26 billion somoni worth of industrial goods, the president said.
“A total of 5.9 billion somoni worth of industrial goods were produced in 2018 alone, the growth rate increased 13.5 times compared to 2000,” Rahmon said.
