Russia hands over RR 320 million worth of military hardware and weapons to Tajikistan

Date:

Russian servicemen have donated RR 320 million worth of military hardware and weapons to Tajikistan’s Armed Forces, Russia’s Interfax-AVN reports.

An official ceremony of handover of the military hardware and weapons to the Tajik national army has reportedly taken place in Dushanbe after completion of a joint military drill, dubbed Unbreakable Brotherhood 2019, which was conducted in Tajikistan for peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member nations.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commander of the Russian Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, in particular, noted, “Today, under conditions of growing threats and extension of the zone of instability in areas bordering Afghanistan, the military and political situation in the Central Asian strategic direction is largely determined by ability of the armed forces to resist external military threat.”

A joint military drill for the CSTO peace keeping forces, dubbed Unbreakable Brotherhood 2019, was conducted in Tajikistan from October 21 to October 29.  In all, the exercise reportedly involved more than 3,000 servicemen along with armored vehicles, artillery, ground-attack aircraft and combat helicopters.
