Somon Mahmadbekov wins bronze at the Judo Osaka Grand Slam 2019

Tajik judoka Somon Mahmadbekov has won bronze medal at the Osaka Grand Slam 2019, finishing third in the -73kg weight category. 

Somon now ranks 16th in the Olympics judo ranking list that guarantees him a ticket for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.   

481 judokas from 87 countries of the world, including 276 men and 205 women, competed for medals at the Osaka Grand Slam 2019.   

Recall, Somon Mahmadbekov won gold medal for Tajikistan finishing first in the -73kg category at the World U-21 Judo Championships that was held in Marrakech, Morocco.

In the final, Somon Mahmadbekov defeated Russian judoka Georgii Elbakiyev, silver medalist of the 2018 Budapest Grand Prix.
