The year-end inflation in the consumer goods sector last year reportedly stood at 8.0 percent.
The cost of products of the food industry last year increased by 10.9 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
The increase in cost of products of the food industry was reportedly caused by a 25.3 percent rise in prices for vegetables, meats – 21.8 percent, bread products – 16.5 percent, milk and dairy products – 6.4 percent, and eggs – 6.4 percent.
Non-foodstuffs rose in cost 4.2 percent in 2019 with the prices increasing most significantly for the following goods: pharmaceutical products – 13 percent; home appliances – 7.9 percent; building bricks – 6.2 percent; and detergents – 3.3 percent.
Prices and rates for services rendered to the population last year reportedly increased by 5.5 percent. The ones that increased most significantly were: payment for tickets for air travel – 11.1 percent; tariffs for water supply services – 4.3 percent; tariffs for domestic services – 3.8 percent; and public transportation services – 2.9 percent.
