Republican coronavirus prevention commission set up in Tajikistan

By president’s order a coronavirus prevention commission has been set up in Tajikistan.  The commission is led by Deputy Prime Minister, Azim Ibrohim.

A source within the government says the commission members include senior representatives of the ministries of health, agriculture, education, labor, foreign affairs as well as committees on TV and radio broadcasting, emergencies, tourism development and youth.  Senior representatives of the country’s air companies and the state railway company are also members of this commission.

All decisions and recommendations of the commission are binding in the territory of the country.

“By commission’s order sanitary, quarantine and migration control has been toughened at all border crossing points (BCPs) and thermal scans have been installed at all BCPs,” the source added.

Recall, Tajikistan has put ban on import of all kinds of Chinese food products amid fears over the outbreak of coronavirus in China.  No Chinese food products have been delivered to Tajikistan after appearance of the new coronavirus in China.

Airports in Tajikistan have toughened control amid growing concerns over the outbreak of a new virus in China.  Temperature sensors have been installed at Dushanbe International Airport and medical workers in protective suits are on duty at the airport.  Besides, the isolation capsule (a temporary isolated unit) has been prepared at the Dushanbe airport.  Khujand International Airport has also toughened control amid China virus outbreak.

Meanwhile, international media reports said on February 3 that the coronavirus outbreak has killed at least 362 people and infected more than 17,300 globally, as it continues to spread beyond China.  One person outside mainland China, a man in the Philippines, has died, according to CNN.

The virus has reportedly been confirmed in more than 25 countries and territories since it was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December.

Nearly 60 million people remain under lockdown in Chinese cities as international researchers race to develop a vaccine and halt its spread.
