Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan agree to reopen border crossing points along their common border

Date:

To speed up the movement of cargo Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to reopen all border crossing points (BCPs) along their commonborder

Official websites of governments of both countries say Kazakhstan Prime Minister Askar and Kyrgyz Premier Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev had a telephone conversation on June 10 to discuss cooperation issues.

According to the Kyrgyz government’s official website, at the suggestion of the Kazakh side a mutual agreement was reached on opening of BPCs along the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.

The sides reportedly also reached an agreement on ensuring unhindered movement of cargo across the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.

They also discussed issues related to collaboration in combating the spreading of the coronavirus infection and protecting the population against COVID-19.

Kazakhstan unilaterally closed five of seven BPCs along its common border with Kyrgyzstan in late May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
