51 new officially confirmed cases of novel coronavirus reported in Tajikistan on Sunday

51 new officially confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 5,900 as of the evening of June 29, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP).  

4,506 COVID-19 patients (76.3) have reportedly recovered as of the evening of June 29, 2020.

According to a MoHSPP, an official number of the coronavirus-linked deaths remains in the country the same – 52.

264 patients are still under supervision of doctors. 

Tajikistan’s national news agency Khovar says more than 7,500 physicians and 25,000 nurses have been mobilized in 85 hospitals across the country.

Besides, 7,600 physicians and more than 24,000 nurses now work with primary health care facilities, according to Khovar

Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s upper chamber (Majlisi Milli) of parliament on June 26 seconded amendments recently made to the country’s administrative code today.  

Recall, the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) has voted to criminalize spreading infectious and fine anybody not wearing a face mask while going out in public. 

The bill, passed by the Majlisi Namoyandagon on June 10, provides for a prison sentence of between 2 and 5 years for the intentional transmission of infectious diseases and a prison sentence of up to 10 years if the act caused grievous bodily harm.

Parliament also approved fines of 580 somoni for physical entities and a fine of 11,600 somoni for legal entities for disseminating inaccurate and untruthful information about pandemic through media and a fine from 116 to 290 somoni for anyone not wearing a mask in public or failing to practice physical distancing of two meters.
