Iran sends second anti-coronavirus medical shipment to Tajikistan

Asia-Plus

Iran has sent the second anti-coronavirus medical shipment to Tajikistan.  Iran’s air carrier Kish Air airlifted 2.5 tons of medical supplies into Tajikistan yesterday afternoon.

According to the Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe, the assistance included ventilators, thermometers, pulsotachometers, compressors, antiseptic solutions and diagnostic equipment.

Besides, 102 people, including 59 citizens of Tajikistan and 43 nationals of Iran, arrived in Dushanbe by this plane, Mr. Mohsen Farahbar, Press Secretary, Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, on the way back, the plane took 63 people, including 21 Tajik nationals (students, tourists and sick people who flew to Iran for treatment).

Recall, Iran sent the first medical aid to Tajikistan on May 12.  The assistance included 6 tons of medical supplies.

Iranian media reports said in May that the first medical shipment was sent to Tajikistan following a phone call between Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon.

Iran Press said on May 14 that the Tajik government had previously called on Iran to provide the Tajikistan with the items needed to control the coronavirus pandemic.
