Uzbek flag carrier airline to operate the return flight between Tashkent and Dushanbe on January 20

The flag carrier airline of Uzbekistan Oʻzbekiston Havo Yoʻllari (Uzbekistan Airways) will operate the first after ten-month interruption regular return flight between Tashkent and Dushanbe on January 20.  

A ticket on this flight costs 1,100 somonis for economy class and 1,800 somonis for business class.

Uzbekistan Airways Company will operate one return flight between Tashkent and Dushanbe once a week, on Wednesdays. 

Meanwhile, Tajikistan's privately owned Somon Air will run one flight connecting the two capitals every Friday.  Somon Air has not yet announced the exact date of its first flight between Dushanbe and Tashkent.

Recall, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan reached an agreement on resumption of bilateral regular air flights between their capitals on January 15.

Ikrom Subhonzoda, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus in an interview on January 15 that the decision was made by the Standing Committee on COVID-19 Response of Tajikistan in coordination with the Uzbek side.

Subhonzoda added that all passengers travelling from Dushanbe to Tashkent and back must have a negative COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours before the flight.  Passengers must also wear masks and gloves during flights.

Air traffic between Tajikistan and Dushanbe was suspended on March 16, 2020. 

Recall, Tajik authorities have suspended all international flights.  Tajikistan closed all its airports at midnight on March 19-20 due to the coronavirus concerns.  Only charters flights to repatriate Tajik nationals stranded in foreign countries due to the coronavirus crisis have been operated so far.    

To-date, Tajikistan has resumed regular flights to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Istanbul (Turkey).
