The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan have signed a joint regulation on indexation of the rates of patent fee.
Under this document, the patent value rises 9.4 percent.
The authorities carry out such an indexation every year, taking into account inflation rate for the previous year.
Last year, the year-end inflation stood at 9.4 percent, accordingly, the patent value, which includes social and income taxes, rises 9.4 percent as well.
The regulation that was published in Boju Khiroj weekly, an official mouthpiece of the Tax Committee, on February 11, will come into force on March 11, 2021.
Individual entrepreneurship is carried out by one individual independently on the basis of property owned by him on the right of ownership, and also by virtue of another right permitting the use and (or) disposal of property.
In Tajikistan, an individual may be engaged in 50 types of activities on the basis of patent, including sale of consumer goods, providing transport services, and others.
An individual entrepreneur in Tajikistan has no right to import or export goods and has no right to hire workers.
The gross income of an entrepreneur working on the basis of a patent should not exceed 200,000 somonis per calendar year.
The highest patent fee is set for entrepreneurs engaged in the transportation of goods by vehicles with a carrying capacity of over 20 tons. After the introduction of new rates, the patent for such entrepreneurs, currently 880 somonis, will cost will cost 876 somonis.
The rate of patent fee for wedding singers will rise from 720 somonis to 788 somonis.
Currently, the cheapest patent fees are set for entrepreneurs engaged in carrying goods by motor scooters – 53 somonis, carrying cargo by tractors, selling bakery products and popcorn, and preparing and selling meals without seats – 87 somonis each.
According to the official statistics, the number of entrepreneurs working on a patent in Tajikistan rose 6.1 percent (almost 20,000 people) in a year to December 31, 2020, reaching about 340,000 people.
