Tajik leader has ordered to restore the residential buildings destroyed or partially damaged in Chorkuh jamoat during the April 28-29 clashes jamoat at the expense of the state.  

All residential buildings completely destroyed and partially damaged during the latest clashes on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border will be restored at the expense of the state.  Such an order was reportedly given by President Emomali Rahmon.

Speaking at a working meeting in Khujand, Sughd Governor Rajabboy Ahmadzoda noted on May 3 that upon instruction from President Emomali Rahmon all residential buildings destroyed during the April 28-29 border clashes will be fully restored within a month and victims will receive financial assistance.

As far as the partially damaged residential buildings are concerned, the will be restored as soon as possible, the governor said, adding that families of those killed in the clashes will receive financial and material assistance.  

Deputy Isfara Mayor, Jafar Haidarzoda, speaking at the meeting, noted that people evacuated from the zone of conflict are returning to their places of permanent residence.  

“Those whose homes were destroyed completely have been housed in temporary shelters,” Haidarzoda added.  

Recall, Kyrgyz president’s official website reported on May 2 that homes of residents of Batken region that were destroyed or partially damaged during the latest clashes on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border will be fully restored at the expense of the government.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Emergencies of Kyrgyzstan, Urmatbek Shamirkanov, says 78 residential buildings were completely destroyed or partially damaged in Batken region during the latest border clashes. 

Besides, ten gas stations, eight shops, three frontier posts, two schools, a kindergarten, a first-aid post and a building of local police department were reportedly destroyed.

According to data from Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health, 36 Kyrgyz nationals were killed and 182 others were wounded during the conflict.

Tajik authorities have not yet disclosed the number of killed and wounded in the conflict.  

Residents of the Tajik village of Khoja Alo, however, says 16 Tajik nationals were killed and more than 100 others were wounded during the latest border clashes.  Locals said 18 homes in total had been destroyed in the village.
