One more microfinance institution is being liquidated in Tajikistan.  By decision issued by the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) Board the license of SMT-Sarmoya Microlending Agency was revoked on May 3. 

A statement released by Tajik central bank, in particular, says SMT-Sarmoya Microlending Organization is being liquidated voluntarily.

The process of liquidation of this microlending organization is carried out in accordance with the country’s legislation, the statement says.

SMT-Sarmoya Microlending Organization is the third microlending agency having been liquidated in Tajikistan since the beginning of this year. 

The number of lending agencies reduced in the country from 137 in 2014 to 66 this year.  

According to data from the National Bank of Tajikistan, 66 lending organizations operating in the country  include 18 commercial banks, 17 micro-deposit organizations, four microlending organizations and 27 microlending funds.
