Russian security officers detain supporter of IS terror group who was preparing terrorist attack in Norilisk

Russian security officers have reportedly detained an alleged supporter of the Islamic State (IS) terror group who was preparing terrorist attack in Norilisk.

The Center for Public Relations of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) says a Russian national a supporter of the ideology of the Islamic State (IS) terror group, which is banned in Russia, in the Stavropol region April 22.

He was reportedly planning to organize a terrorist attack in the city of Norilsk in a public place on May 9 by detonating an improvised explosive device.

Explosives and submunitions were found in a cache he equipped in the basement of one of the residential buildings in Norilsk, the FSB Center for Public Relations says.
