The first Tajikistan-Uzbekistan interregional investment forum took place in Bokhtar, the capital of the Tajik southwest Khatlon province, on June 9.
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan says the forum participants have signed cooperation documents in a total amount of 730 million U.S. dollars.
They, in particular, signed agreements on joint assembly of vehicles, joint production of transformers, development of intensive orchards, establishment of greenhouses and farm produce processing enterprises as well as a number of trade contracts.
Besides, the parties agreed to set up a joint investment fund with an authorized capital stock of 50 million U.S. dollars to support implementation of joint projects in various sectors of the economy.
The event was reportedly attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Davlatali Said, the Deputy Prime Minister also Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, heads of relevant ministries and agencies and governors of border provinces of the two countries.
About 300 entrepreneurs from various regions of both countries participated in the forum.
A number of targeted meetings in B2G and B2B formats took places on the sidelines of the forum.
