Tursunzoda farmers expected to export US$500,000 worth of grapes to Kazakhstan this year

Date:

Gardeners from Tursunzoda (western Tajikistan) have concluded a contract on exporting US$500,000 worth of grapes to Kazakhstan, according to the Tursunzoda mayor’s office.

The contract has reportedly been inked by Mevayu Sabzavoti Tursunzoda Limited Liability Company and a delegation of Kazakhstan led by the Minister of Trade and Integration of this country Bakhyt Sultanov.  Grapes produced by the Boghi Somon Vineyard Farm will be delivered to Kazakhstan.

Members of the Kazakh delegation have visited vineyards of Boghi Somon, Vatan, Sardor-2008 ad some other farming units subordinate to the city of Tursunzoda.

Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov had earlier noted that it is necessary to increase the bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan to 2 billion U.S. dollars.

Last year, despite the coronavirus pandemic, a two-way trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan reportedly valued at 791 million U.S. dollars, which was 3.7 percent more than in 2019.

An agreement on direct delivery of grapes directly from vineyards of Tajikistan is a part of the program of measures to increase the bilateral trade with Kazakhstan.

The parties also discussed issues related to attracting investment from Kazakhstan in Tajikistan’s farm produce processing industry.

Tajikistan now exports grapes, apricots, sweet cherries, dried fruits, onions, cabbages and many other agricultural goods to Kazakhstan.
