Young woman from Faizobod suspected of inflicting stab wounds on her infant son

Asia-Plus

A 24-year-old woman from Faizobod district, some 56 kilometers to the east of Dushanbe, has been arrested on suspicion of causing harm to the health of his three-year-old son.

“She beat her three-year-old son and inflicted stab wounds on him,” says the Interior Ministry press center.

Criminal proceedings have reportedly been instituted against the woman under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 112 — deliberate infliction of slight harm to health; and Article 174 — failure to fulfill the obligation to raise a minor.  The investigation is under way.

If convicted, the woman could face the correctional labor for the period of 80 to 160 hours or a fine of up to 180,000 somonis.
