In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, the first deputy head of the Antimonopoly Agency under the Government, Safarali Qurbonzoda, revealed on July 13 that ten items of socially significant goods and products, prices for which are regulated by the government, are being imported into Tajikistan.
He noted that that the list of the socially significant goods and products that was approved by the government in May 2018 includes 19 items.
“Ten of them are being imported into the country,” said Qurbonzoda. “These items also include goods that are being produced inside the country with use of imported raw materials. For example, flour and macaroni are produced inside the country with use of imported wheat.”
The Antimonopoly Agency will determine the upper limit of the prices of socially significant goods and products for a certain period (two-three months) in the event if the prices will be unreasonably increased by 20 percent or more during a month.
The list of the socially significant goods and products currently includes the following products:
1. Wheat flour (grade I and II);
2. Bakery products (from grade I and II wheat flour);
3. Pasta;
4. Wheat;
5. Rice;
6. Potatoes;
7. Vegetables (carrots, onions, cabbages);
8. Sugar;
9. Vegetable and cooking (cotton) oils and butter;
10. Milk and dairy products (kefir, sour cream and curds);
11. Lentils, peas, buckwheat, kidney beans, barleys;
12. Meat (beef, lamb, chicken meat);
13. Chicken eggs;
14. Salt;
15. Teas (black and green);
16. Baby foods;
17. Fuels (gasoline diesel fuel and liquefied natural gas);
18. Medicines;
19. Mineral fertilizers.
