Food prices have fallen in Tajikistan, but clothes and services are not falling in price

Date:

The Statistical Office of Tajikistan recorded deflation in the country's consumer market in August this year – the price index amounted to 98.8%.

This was due to a decrease in prices for food products – by 2.5%, the cost of non-food products last month increased by 0.3%, and paid services to the population rose by 0.1%, according to the monthly report of the Agency on Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Deflation means a decrease in the general level of prices for goods and services – a process opposite to inflation. At the same time, prices are analyzed in national currency.

Deflation may be accompanied by revaluation, that is, the appreciation of the national currency against foreign currencies.
