Russian Railways (Russia’s state-owned railways company) has offered discounts for trains bound for Tajikistan.
The action called “Tajikistan” will be valid from January 2 to December 28, 2023.
The following discounts are available on ticket purchases for passengers of compartment and sleeping cars:
- 35-percent discount is available to a ticket purchased 45-41 days before train departure;
- 25-percent discount is available to a ticket purchased 40-11 days before train departure;
- 15-percent discount is available to a ticket purchased 10-6 days before train departure;
- 5.0-percent is available to a ticket purchased five days before train departure.
The following discounts are available for passengers of reserved seats
- 25-percent discount is available to a ticket purchased 45-41 days before train departure;
- 15-percent discount is available to a ticket purchased 40-11 days before train departure;
- 5.0-percent discount is available to a ticket purchased 10-6 days before train departure.
Every week, trains from Tajikistan to the Russian Federation run on three routes: 1) Dushanbe-Volgograd; 2) Khujand-Volgograd; and 3) Kulob-Volgograd.
It is to be noted that that only passenger trains of Rohi Ohani Tojikiston (Tajik Railways) run from Tajikistan to the Russian Federation.
An official with Tajik Railways says Tajik and Russian railway companies conduct negotiations on launching such actions every year.
Recall, Russian Railways last month decided to extend a 50% discount on transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
A 50% discount on the transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is extended for the whole of 2023.
In addition, Russian Railways extended a number of discounts for transportation to other domestic and foreign destinations.
A 50% discount on the import transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to Russia in refrigerated rolling stock owned by Uzbekistan Railways and Rohi Ohani Tojikiston (Tajik Railways) was reportedly valid since January 1, 2021.
Russian Railways has granted discounts on rail shipment of fruits and vegetables from Tajikistan since March 2006, when a 50-percent discount was granted for shipment of fruits and vegetables in refrigerator vans and a 25-percent discount for shipment of vegetables and fruits in goods trains.
According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation over the first eleven months of last year valued at 1.532.5 billion U.S. dollars.
