A 42-year-old woman from the Vorukh jamoat, which is subordinate to the Tajik northern city of Isfara, Muhiba Davronova, has got a lengthy jail term for cooperation with the Paymoni Milli Movement and supporting its antigovernment position as well as an attempt to kill her two minor children.

The Sughd regional court cumulatively sentenced Muhiba Davronova to 18 years in prison.

An official source within the court says Muhiba Davronova cooperated with the Paymoni Milli Movement from May 2022 to January 2023, supporting its antigovernment position .

“Muhiba Davronova, in particular, left supportive comments on websites of this movement and Isloh.net portal, whose editor-in-chief is Muhammadiqbol Sadriddin, who is officially wanted by the Tajik authorities,” the source said.

According to him, Muhiba Davronova was also found guilty of filming buildings of government agencies on a mobile phone and sending the photographs to Isloh.net website.

“After she was summoned to the Isfara prosecutor’s office for questioning, she attempted to kill herself and her two minor children on January 9, 2023, using rat poison,” said the source.  “They were taken to the Isfara central city hospital and doctors managed to save them.”

By court’s ruling Muhiba Davronova was cumulatively sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Recall, the Supreme Court of Tajikistan has banned a number of political parties and movements, recognizing them as extremist or terrorist organizations.

Meanwhile, Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service, known locally as Radio Ozodi, reported on June 12 that the Tajik authorities ask France to extradite Isloh.net editor-in-chief Muhammadiqbol Sadriddin, which is charged a large-scale fraud.
