Rahmon heads to Turkmenistan to participate in a tripartite summit

The Tajik president’s official website says President Emomali Rahmon today morning departed for Turkmenistan for participation in a tripartite summit of the leaders of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan that is being held in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, today.

Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, president’s aide for international relations and some other high-ranking officials.  

The Tajik president’s official website emphasizes that the leaders of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are expected to discuss a number of topical issues related to collaboration and development of the region as well as ways to strengthen security and stability in Central Asia.

They will also exchange views on a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest. 

While in Ashgabat, Emomali Rahmon is also scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings.       

Meanwhile, BNN reports that the forthcoming summit is a historic event, marking the first time leaders of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will gather in a trilateral format. This meeting reportedly signifies an important step towards increasing dialogue and enhancing collaboration among these nations.

While the exact details of the summit’s agenda remain undisclosed, it is clear that it will encompass discussions on regional cooperation, which could potentially include topics such as trade, energy, security, and other areas of mutual interest, according to BNN.  

The leaders of these three nations reportedly have the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to regional cooperation and their capacity to work together for the common good.  The tripartite summit could potentially mark a new chapter in the history of Central Asian diplomacy, fostering a stronger bond among these nations and opening the door to greater regional cooperation.
