President visits farming units in Kushoniyon district of Khatlon province.

Date:

On Thursday December 14, President Emomali Rhamon visited a number of farming units in Kushoniyon district of Khatlon province, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In the village of Faizi Istiqlol, he reportedly put into operation a modern cold store with capacity of storing up to 2,000 tons of fruits and vegetables, construction of which was financed by the Somon Agro Sanoat Limited Liability Company (LLC).

The Tajik president’s official website says a total area of the cold storage area is 5,200 square meters, and it is equipped with modern self-operated devices.

Modern equipment, imported from Turkiye and Italy, keeps the temperature inside the refrigerator from +5ºC to +10ºC.  Such conditions reportedly allow fruits and vegetables to be kept fresh and of excellent quality.

With the commissioning of the first stage of this facility, more than 10 local residents were provided with well-paid jobs.

Now carrots, potatoes, apples, pomegranates, grapes, dates and other products are stored in the cold room.

Another advantage of the newly built cold storage facility is the contract for receiving and storing fresh fruits and vegetables for the population.

Yesterday, Emomali Rahmon also visited a greenhouse for growing lemons in the Somon-Bokhtar production cooperative in Kushoniyon district.

It was reported that the production cooperative was established on an area of 50 hectares, 3 ha of garden area, 30 ha of cotton, 8 ha of cereals, 1.5 ha of potatoes and 3.9 ha of land for fodder cultivation.

10 greenhouses have been built in this farming unit, headed by Jobirzoda Mahmadtolib. The construction of the greenhouse started in 2012 and was commissioned in 2016 by the president during his working visit to Khatlon province.

Last year, the production of lemons in this farming unit reached 40 tons, and this year, they intend to increase the lemon production to 50 tons.  Produced goods are reportedly sold within the country and also exported to the Russian Federation.
