It became known how much the work of the lower chamber of parliament will cost in 2024

27,401,380 somonis have been allocated for activities of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) in 2024, Jamshed Murtazozoda, the head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee to Monitor the Implementation of Instructions and Organization of Work of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview on January 4.  

Meanwhile, Sadoi Mardum, the mouthpiece of Tajikistan’s parliament, says 5 million somonis have been allocated for activities of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament).

This amount reportedly includes the following expenses:

 

  • 2.3 million somonis are allocated for payment of salaries and taxes.
  • 2.2 million somonis are allocated for payment of goods and services.
  • 0.3 million somonis are allocated for payment of social benefits.
  • 0.2 million somonis are allocated for purchase of vehicles and equipment. 

 

It is to be noted that 27,188,840 somonis were allocated for activities of the Majlisi Namoyandagon in 2023.  This amount also includes expenses for 343 people.

The amount allocated last year was 6 million somonis more than that allocated for activities of the Majlisi Namoyandagon in 2022.  

The Majlisi Oli – Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan – is the highest representative and legislative agency of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Majlisi Oli consists of two majlises – Majlisi Milli (National Assembly) and Majlisi Namoyandagon (Assembly of Representatives).   

The Majlisi Namoyandagon, the lower chamber with 63 members elected for a five-year term, 22 by proportional representation and 41 in single-seat constituencies.

The Majlisi Milli, the upper chamber with 33 members, 25 elected for a five-year term by members of local councils and 8 appointed by the president.
