Tajikistan and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing a joint innovation and technology center, the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament) press center says.
As part of his official visit to Iran, Majlisi Milli Chairman Rustam Emomali, who is also the Mayor of Dushanbe, today visit the Iran House of Innovation and Technology (IHIT) in Tehran.
The IHIT reportedly houses a center showcasing Iran’s latest scientific achievements in various sectors, including nanotechnologies, food industry, agriculture, pharmaceutics, medical technology, etc.
The Majlisi Milli press center says that with the aim of fostering scientific and technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran, advancing relations in the sphere of technology and knowledge-based economy, Rustam Emomali and Rouhollah Dehghani, Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint innovation and technology center.
The Iran House of Innovation and Technology (IHIT) in Tehran is one of the houses of innovation and export of Iran, which has already been launched in several countries. So far, IHIT has been set up in Syria, Kenya, Uzbekistan and many other countries, and the vice president for science and technology plans to set up such centers in other countries as well.
In this center, the achievements of knowledge-based companies that have export capacity are displayed. The function of this permanent exhibition is to display knowledge-based products in accordance with various programs.
IHIT serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and technology promotion, organizing a variety of activities and events, including technology fairs, knowledge sharing, business coordination, technology promotion and so forth.
Despite international sanctions, Iran has made considerable advances in science and technology through education and training in almost all aspects of research over the past 30 years. In recent years, the growth in Iran's scientific output is reported to be the fastest in the world. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 has listed 36 Iranian universities among the world’s top 1,000 institutions, compared with 29 universities in 2023.
