President Emomali Rahmon, who is also Head of the Government of Tajikistan, has introduced a number of staff changes to the anticorruption agency.
By president’s decree Suhrob Safarzoda was relieved of his post of First Deputy Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption under the President of Tajikistan in connection with transfer to another job.
By another president’s decree Barot Rasouli was appointed First Deputy Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.
By president’s decree Muzaffar Ahmadzoda was relieved of his post of Deputy Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.
By anther president’s decree Firouz Kamolzoda was appointed Deputy Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.
The anticorruption agency was created by president’s decree of January 10, 2007. It performs functions previously carried out by the State Financial Control Committee, Main Tax Police Directorate, Directorate for Combating Corruption and other agencies.
The agency is placed under president’s direct supervision, and it has staff of 450.
Tajikistan signed up to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in 2006 and is one of the countries participating in the OECD Anti-corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (OECD/ACN). Established in 1998, the OECD/ACN provides a regional forum for the promotion of anti-corruption activities, exchange of information, elaboration of best practices and donor coordination.
In 2012, Tajikistan adopted an anticorruption strategy designed for 2013-2020, and the new national anticorruption strategy designed for 2021-2030 was introduced in October 2021.
