Tajik minister claims that Tajikistanis’ incomes rose 113 times compared to 2000

During the period from 2000 to 2023, the country's economic development was annually ensured, on average, at the level of 7.7 percent, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqi Zavqizoda stated this on April 8 at a meeting dedicated to an Economist Day.       

The gross domestic product (GDP) reportedly increased from 1.8 billion somonis in 2000 to 130.8 billion somonis in 2023 and the population’s cash incomes increased from 1 billion somonis to 113 billion somonis, or they rose 113 times.    

In 2023, the country’s economic growth rate was 8.8 percent, which was caused by the increase in industrial production – by 8.3 percent, agricultural production – by 9.0 percent, investment in fixed capital – by 22.5 percent, freight transport – by 16.6 percent, passenger traffic – by 9.8 percent, payment services – by 14.1 percent, and trade turnover – by 13.4 percent. 

Zavqizoda noted that international financial organizations had Tajikistan as a country with high economic growth rates as a country with high rates of economic development
