Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today departed for Tehran to attend funeral ceremony for Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province on May 19.

The Tajik president’s official website says Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Presidential Adviser for Foreign Ties and some other high-ranking Tajik state officials will also attend the funeral of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi that will be held on May 23 in the Iranian city of Mashhad.

Russia’s state-run news agency TASS cited Iran’s Vice President Mohsen Mansouri as telling IRIB TV that “Ayatollah Raisi’s funeral ceremony will take place Thursday evening at the Mausoleum of Imam Reza.”

The Tajik government had expressed its condolences to the Iranian government and people over the tragic loss of life.

Meanwhile some media reports say Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iraq PM al-Sudani have also arrived in Tehran to attend the funeral of Ebrahim Raisi.  China's vice PM, Azerbaijan's PM, Armenia’s PM, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Hamas chief Haniyeh and Taliban leaders are also expected to be in Iran's capital today.

Russia’s news agency Interfax on May 21 cited the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that State Duma (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament) Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin will attend the farewell ceremony for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Recall, President Ebrahim Raisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Governor of East Azarbaijan Province Malek Rahmati, head of Raeisi’s bodyguard team Mehdi Mousavi, and Iranian Leader’s representative in the province Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, were killed in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan Province in northwest Iran on May 19.
