President dismisses a judge at Kulob city court for discrediting the honor and dignity of a judge

Date:

President Emomali Rahmon has dismissed a judge at the Kulob city court for discrediting the honor and dignity of a judge, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

By president’s decree, which was issued on June 3, the judge at the Kulob city court, Ms. Hanifa Alimzoda, was dismissed “because of an act that discredits the honor and dignity of a judge.”

Ms. Alimzoda had reportedly served as the judge at the Kulob city court since 2022.  Prior to this, she had served as deputy chairperson of the Bokhtar city court.

The president’s official website has not given details of her wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service, known locally as Radio Ozodi, reported in July 2022 that more than 400 judges work in Tajikistan, and about thirty of them have been fired, detained and jailed over the past decade for discrediting the honor and dignity of a judge.  The authorities have not published what for the judges were fired and convicted, but some sources told Radio Ozodi that they were charged with bribery.

By government’s regulation, issued on June 4, Abdurahmon Karimzoda was relieved of his post of Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Construction under the Government of Tajikistan due to the death.
