On Monday February 24, President Emomali Rahmon had phone talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, at the initiative of the Russian side, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The leaders of the two countries reportedly discussed the progress in implementing the agreements reached during the visit of the President of Tajikistan to Russia on December 24, 2024.  The discussions focused on cooperation in trade and economic sectors, energy, security, and socio-humanitarian issues.

They also reviewed the state and prospects of interstate relations between the two countries, which are based on the principles of strategic partnership and alliance.

The parties exchanged views on pressing international agenda topics and issues related to ensuring regional security.

The Tajik president’s official website says the conversation took place in a traditionally friendly and warm atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Kremlin.ru reports that expressing satisfaction with the high level of Russian-Tajik strategic partnership and alliance, the two leaders discussed concrete steps to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as in security matters.  Relevant instructions will be given to the governments, ministries, and agencies of both countries.
