The Government of Tajikistan has announced the allocation of 15 million somonis in grants to support women’s entrepreneurship in 2025, doubling the amount from last year, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Under a new government resolution, from 2025 to 2030, the country will allocate 15 million somonis annually to provide 200 grants aimed at encouraging and developing women-led businesses.
The grants will be distributed as follows:
- 25 grants of 110,000 somonis
- 25 grants of 100,000 somonis
- 25 grants of 90,000 somonis
- 25 grants of 80,000 somonis
- 25 grants of 70,000 somonis
- 25 grants of 60,000 somonis
- 25 grants of 50,000 somonis
- 25 grants of 40,000 somonis
In a push to address environmental issues, 10% of the grants will be directed toward climate-related projects. The Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan will oversee the implementation, while the Ministry of Finance will provide funding through the state budget.
The grant initiative, first introduced in 2006 by President Emomali Rahmon, is reportedly part of a broader national strategy to promote women’s entrepreneurship and traditional crafts. In its inaugural year, the program distributed a total of 150,000 somonis.
The primary goals of the program include creating employment opportunities for women and girls, boosting the production of handmade goods—particularly in sewing and handicraft workshops—and improving household incomes and family well-being.
