The average salary in Tajikistan has increased. But it is still the smallest in the region

The average monthly nominal wage in Tajikistan, accrued to employees, in June of this year was 3,136.12 somoni ($314), according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of the country.

This is a 21.4% increase compared to June 2024.

The minimum wage remains at 800 somoni. Meanwhile, the level of real wages in June 2025 increased by 17.2% compared to June 2024.

Nominal and real wages differ in how they reflect the purchasing power of income. A nominal salary is the amount of money an employee receives for their work in monetary terms. It is indicated in employment contracts, pay slips and transferred to a bank card. A real salary is an indicator of how many goods and services can be bought with a nominal salary. It depends on the price level (inflation).

The lowest wages in June 2025 were for agricultural workers (1082.31 somoni), and the highest for workers in financial intermediation and insurance (7703.32 somoni).

In Kyrgyzstan, according to the Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, the average monthly nominal salary per employee, excluding small enterprises, in JanuaryJune 2025 amounted to 42,020 soms ($481). This is a 19.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

In Uzbekistan, according to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the beginning of the second half of this year, the average nominal accrued salary was 5.98 million soums ($484). This is 17.2% higher than in the corresponding period last year.

In Kazakhstan, according to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the first quarter of 2025, the average monthly nominal salary was 423,133 tenge (almost $790). This is 10.7% more than in the same period of 2024.

In Russia, according to Rosstat, the average nominal salary in May 2025 was 99,422 rubles ($1,231).
