The CIS Economic Council will meet in the capital of Tajikistan.

The 107th meeting of the CIS Economic Council will be held in Dushanbe on September 5, where key areas of economic cooperation, digitalization and innovative development of the region will be discussed. The participants will consider overcoming trade barriers, the unified budget of the CIS bodies for 2026 and other important issues, according to the Internet portal of the Commonwealth.

The agenda of the meeting includes a wide range of issues related to economic cooperation, digitalization, innovation, social sphere and security. Among the key topics are the exchange of views on topical issues of economic cooperation, overcoming obstacles in mutual trade and recommendations for their elimination, discussion of the unified budget of the CIS bodies for 2026, the strategy for digitalization of multimodal transport corridors and the action plan for the development of the information society and the digital economy until 2035.

The Council will also consider issues of intellectual property protection for 2021-2024, the implementation of the second stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for 2026-2030, scientific and technological development projects, health protection programs, as well as issues of veterans of wars and local conflicts, including the search and identification of remains of military personnel during the 1979-1989 war in Afghanistan.

Special attention will be paid to the creation and development of the united air defense system of the CIS countries, the activities of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation, centers of competence and best practices in the framework of innovative cooperation, support for small businesses and improving the quality of life of veterans.

The council will be attended by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as a representative of the CIS Executive Committee.

Tajikistan assumed the chairmanship of the CIS Economic Council for 2025 from the Russian Federation on November 29, 2024, making the country's capital a center for the preparation and coordination of regional economic initiatives.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan has begun accreditation of media representatives to cover the meeting, applications are accepted until 12:00 p.m. on September 1, 2025.
