On December 2, during his official visit to Tajikistan, Numan Kurtulmuş, Chairman of Turkiye’s Grand National Assembly, met with Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon at the Palace of Nations.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Emomali Rahmon highlighted the importance of developing parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries and emphasized that relations with Turkiye occupy a special place in Tajikistan's foreign policy. The meeting focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation, particularly in key sectors such as textile manufacturing, aluminum processing, and the implementation of investment projects. Several areas for the creation of joint manufacturing enterprises and new opportunities based on local raw materials were also identified.

The two sides reportedly reaffirmed their commitment to continue collaboration in the fields of education, science, culture, and tourism. Additionally, they exchanged views on current international and regional issues.

Numan Kurtulmuş arrived in Tajikistan on December 1 for an official visit. He was greeted at Dushanbe airport by committee chairs, the head of the Majlisi Milli staff, and ambassadors from both countries.

According to Turkish media, Kurtulmuş arrived in Dushanbe at the head of a parliamentary delegation, invited by Rustam Emomali, Speaker of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament). This is Kurtulmuş’s first visit to Tajikistan as the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, and it is expected to further expand cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

After his visit to Tajikistan, Numan Kurtulmuş will head to Uzbekistan, where he is scheduled to attend official meetings and a ceremony for the graduation of medical university students in Bukhara.

Numan Kurtulmuş (born 15 September 1959) is a Turkish politician and academic who is currently the speaker of the Grand National Assembly.
