The Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, Sherali Kabir, yesterday met with the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran to Tajikistan, Alireza Haghighiyan. This was reported by the Embassy of Iran in Tajikistan.
During the talks, the two reportedly discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation, focusing on industry, the mining sector, and new technologies.
The Iranian Ambassador emphasized the significant potential for partnership and the need for closer collaboration between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries.
Sherali Kabir highlighted the high level of development in Iran’s industry and technologies, stressing the importance of regular meetings, industry exhibitions, and active business engagement to strengthen economic ties between Tajikistan and Iran.
It is worth noting that earlier, Tajikistan and Iran agreed to increase their bilateral trade turnover to $500 million. This issue was discussed during a meeting between Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The parties agreed that the abolition of visas between the two countries would be a key step in boosting trade.
Masoud Pezeshkian also emphasized that the introduction of a visa-free regime would significantly enhance cultural ties and ease travel for tourists between both countries. The potential participation of Iranian investments in energy and transport projects in Tajikistan was another important topic of discussion.
The further development of trade and economic relations has become a key priority for both countries.
