Iranian media reports say Iran’s Chief of Police Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Radan has traveled to Tajikistan to enhance bilateral cooperation in police and law enforcement.

According to IRNA, Brigadier General Radan, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, on December 23, following an invitation from the Tajik Minister of Internal Affairs, Ramazon Rahimzoda.

He was welcomed at Dushanbe International Airport by Abdurahmon Alamshozoda, the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.

During their meeting, Radan and Alamshozoda reportedly discussed the cooperation and further development of bilateral interactions in several areas, including policing and law enforcement, combating terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime, educational cooperation, and the exchange of experiences.

On the same day, Radan also held talks with Tajikistan’s Interior Minister, Ramazon, Rahimzoda.  The two reportedly discussed and exchanged views on issues related to combating terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime, educational cooperation, and exchange of experiences, IRNA reports.

Meanwhile, Tajik Interior Ministry’s official website reports that during the meeting, the two sides discussed various aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the areas of crime prevention, law enforcement, and security. Emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral ties by leveraging existing opportunities.

The meeting, which took place at the State Enterprise "Hotel Complex of Tajik President’s Executive Office," reportedly focused on expanding collaboration in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and transnational organized crime, including cybercrimes. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in these key areas.

It was agreed that joint actions are necessary to effectively combat the growing threats of terrorism, extremism, radicalization, and transnational crime, including cybercrimes and the illegal drug trade. The two sides also discussed other relevant matters of mutual interest.

According to the Tajik Interior Ministry, the meeting marked a significant step in fostering stronger security and law enforcement ties between Tajikistan and Iran.

On December 24, Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Radan, delivered a statement at the Police Academy of Tajikistan.

In his statement, he, in particular, noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation with the law enforcement department of Tajikistan.

At the Police Academy, he was also awarded an honorary doctorate.

IRNA reports that security cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan is seen as an opportunity for both nations to address shared challenges in the region and beyond.

Radan’s reportedly visit marks the latest step in the deepening partnership between Iran and Tajikistan, two nations bound by profound historical, cultural, and linguistic ties.

The relationship has seen significant momentum this year with several high-level visits leading to some two dozen agreements covering trade, energy, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.
