DUSHANBE, April 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  — New details have emerged about the process of getting Iranian visa at Iran’s Economic Center in Khujand.

Head of the Economic Center Bobojon Ikromov told Asia-Plus by phone last Friday afternoon that residents of the Sughd province might get Iranian visa at the Center for little more than 25 euros, including the visa cost and service fees.

According to him, it is much cheaper than services offered by local tourist agencies.  Ikromov said they took some 80 euros for arrangement of the Iranian visa for their customers.

“The Center has offered this service since April 2,” he said.  “Sughd residents do not need any more to go to Dushanbe for the Iranian visa,” said the Center head, “They may lodge all necessary documents to our Center and our employees will send them to the Consular Department of the Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe.  Travel to Dushanbe took some time and required some 200-250 dollars.”

As it had been reported earlier, some 50 residents of northern Tajikistan travel to Iran every month on business.

Some 30 Iranian nationals currently live in Sughd, doing business there.  Besides, there are three large enterprises with participation of Iranian capital in the province: Nikou-Khujand; Binos-Kolo; and Pors Murgh.
