Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev declared a day of national mourning on October 7 for the 74 victims of a deadly earthquake that hit the southeast of Kyrgyzstan Sunday night. The head of state has left for the quake-hit area to familiarize himself with the situation there.
According to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES), in Tajikistan, the nearest area to epicenter of Sunday’s earthquake was the Karakul jamoat in GBAO’s Murgab district. No damage or injured was reported in Karakul, according to the source.
