DUSHANBE, November 29, Asia-Plus  – The government made a decision to establish the limited liability company, CNBM TALCO Cement Co., Ltd, at a November 28 meeting, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon.

Under government’s decree, Tajikistan Aluminum Company (TALCO) and China National Building Material Company (CNBM) will launch a joint venture for producing cement in the Shahritous district, Khatlon province, the president’s official website reports.  The enterprise is expected to create 5,000 new jobs.

An estimated budget for construction of this cement plant with annual capacity of 3 million tons is more than 600 million U.S. dollars.  The plant is expected to be built in fourteen months.  

The government session also considered and endorsed a number of development programs and draft laws.

Established in 1984, China National Building Material Company or CNBM is a state-owned enterprise administrated by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of the People”s Republic of China, engaging in cement, lightweight building materials, glass fiber and fibre-reinforced plastic products and engineering service businesses.

CNBM is currently the largest cement and gypsum board producer in China in terms of production capacity.  It is also the largest glass fiber producer in Asia in terms of production capacity.

CNBM was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under IPO on March 23, 2006 and it joined the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index on March 10, 2008
