More than 8.7 bln somoni worth of industrial goods produced in Tajikistan in Jan-Nov 2012

DUSHANBE, December 17, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Over the first eleven months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 8.7 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 1.8 billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-November 2011 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to nearly 109.8 percent.

Over the report period, 604 enterprises (62 percent) have exceeded the January-November 2011 production level.  However, there were 81 enterprises, or 8.3 percent of the overall number (971), that were not in operation in January-November 2012.

Processing industry has accounted for 69 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water have accounted for 18.2 percent and mining industry has accounted for 12.8 percent.

Of the 89 basic types of industrial products the output of 49 items (55 percent) has increased, and the output of 33 items (37 percent) has decreased over the report period.  Seven basic types of industrial products (7.9 percent) were not manufactured.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced more than 3 billion somoni worth of goods in January-November this year, which is 22 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises have produced more than one billion somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 36 percent more than in January-November 2011.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than 1.2 billion somoni worth of goods over the same eleven-month period, which is 13 percent more than in January-November 2011.
