DUSHANBE, January 21, 2013, Asia-Plus  — An operation carried out by officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office for Sughd province in the Bobojonghafurov district several days ago led to the seizure of a large amount of heroin.

According to the SCNS press center, 30 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive of heroin weighing 30 kilogram were found hidden in Opel-Caravan belonging to local resident Mukhtor Sharipov, 46.  Mukhtor Sharipov and his passenger – Kazakh national Bakhtiyor Rahimov, 36 – were arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.

The leader of this transnational drug trafficking group has also become known but the SCNS does not disclose his name in interest of the investigation, the source said.

According to him, over the past twenty days alone, officers from the SCNS’s office for Sughd have seized 180 kilograms of narcotics.
