QURGHON TEPPA, October 20, 2008, Asia-Plus — Two new brickworks with capacity of 1 million bricks per year each have been launched in Khatlon’s Khuroson district.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Khuroson chairman Jabbor Samadov said that the brick-making plants are Tajik-Chinese joint ventures. “More than 120 local residents currently work with the plants,” Samadov said.
He noted that the district has produced 9.583 million somoni worth of goods over the first nine months of this year, which is 1.7 million somoni fewer than in the same period of last year.
