President Emomali Rahmon has approved the official symbol of the “Year of Expanding Improvement and Creation, Strengthening National Identity and Self-Awareness,” announced for 2026.

The symbol is designed in a circular shape. Around its circumference, there is an inscription in Tajik: “2026 — Year of Expanding Improvement and Creation, Strengthening National Identity and Self-Awareness,” the Tajik president’s official website reports.

The central elements of the symbol reflect the natural and socio-economic wealth of the country. The sun, mountain peaks with eternal snows, and green slopes symbolize the natural beauty of Tajikistan, as well as emphasize Emomali Rahmon’s international initiatives in the field of water resources and glacier protection.

Images of modern buildings, tunnels, and roads symbolize processes of creation and improvement, while dams and power lines reflect the development of energy and the creation of light, the statement notes.

“A special place in the composition is occupied by the building of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the state flag, and the majestic complex ‘Istiqlol,’ which serve as symbols of the state’s stability and national unity. An open book in the center of the symbol embodies knowledge, enlightenment, and the strengthening of national identity,” emphasizes the president’s official website.

According to the document, ministries, departments, organizations, institutions, as well as executive bodies of state power in the regions and the media will be able to widely use the approved symbol in their activities.

It is worth remembering that the year 2026 in Tajikistan, in accordance with the decree of President Emomali Rahmon, was previously declared the “Year of Expanding Improvement and Creation, Strengthening National Identity and Self-Awareness.”

The initiative is timed to the 35th anniversary of the country’s state independence, which will be celebrated on September 9, 2026, and is aimed at developing infrastructure, strengthening patriotism, and preserving cultural values.
