DUSHANBE, February 19, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Under the country’s legislation, Rustam Latipov, deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), should resign his seat in connection with appointment to the post of chairman of the Vose district in Khatlon province.

Member of the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan (APT), Rustam Latipov, was elected to the Majlisi Namoyandagon from Vose constituency.

“By-election in this constituency will be organized within three months after Latipov’s resignation,” Abdumannon Dadoyev, an official with the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER), told Asia-Plus in an interview.

We will recall that like the Communist Party (CPT) and the Islamic Revival Party (IRP), the APT currently has two seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon.

Meanwhile, the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) now controls 45 seats in a 63-seat lower house of parliament and ten other seats are occupied by unaffiliated deputies.
