Tajikistan ratifies agreement on joint use of CSTO military facilities

DUSHANBE, October 11, Asia-Plus — Tajik MPs today ratified an agreement on a joint use of facilities of military infrastructure of member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).  

First Deputy Defense Minister, Ramil Nadyrov, presenting the agreement noted that it was signed by the CSTO heads of state in Astana on June 18. 

“The document, based on provisions of the collective security treaty, CSTO charter and the agreement on a status of formations and forces of the collective security system, is aimed at providing military security of signatories to the Treaty and defines a procedure of use of territories and military infrastructure in the interest of the collation regional contingents”, Nadyrov said.   

According to him, this agreement also provides the procedure of exchange of information about these facilities, financial and customs issues.  “The agreement also provides working out special methods of solving financial issues,” the deputy defense minister noted.
